Production images of all four casts have been released for Liminal, starring CN Lester, Dan D’Souza, Grace Nyandoro and (IRL married couple) Honey Rouhani and Robert Barbaro

Le Gateau Chocolat joins forces with King’s Head Theatre to create a brand new show, conceived off the back of the sell-out Brighton Fringe performance of the same name, and based on the original production Raw Cacao

Liminal runs 29 September – 23 October, exploring the bittersweet richness of the dark, with the creamy decadence of the light. Different for each cast, opera doesn’t get more intimate than this. And, you can find the cast for each show listed here.

This unmissable, raw and personal exploration into Opera and the people who perform it is developed and directed by Le Gateau Chocolat (Time Out top 10 Cabaret star) and co-written and narrated by Tommy Bradson (Green Room Award winner and Helpmann Award nominated actor). David Merriman (London-based composer & lyricist, musical-director, accompanist and lecturer) completes the musical arrangement with input from the performers themselves.

Spinning multiple plates at once we have Lighting Designer and Production Manager Connor Lovejoy (Lighting Design Credits include Tickledom at Cardiff New Theatre, The Snow Queen at Brighton Open Air Theatre and Circus Abyssinia World tour) and Set and Costume Designer Isabella Van Braeckel (Jerwood Young Designer, long-listed for the Old Vic 12 and featured in the UK Exhibit ‘Staging Places’ at the Prague Quadrennial and V&A), immersing you in the world of Liminal.

Ingrid MacKinnon as movement consultant has credits including (Bonnie & Clyde at UWL: London College of Music, Hamlet for Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, First Encounters: The Merchant of Venice with Royal Shakespeare Company) and utilises the intimate space perfectly. And we see Debbi Lindley take centre stage (quite literally) during the shows as Musical Director of Liminal (BMus with honours in piano performance, Masters with Distinction in piano accompaniment and Masters in Musical Direction).

The entire works are managed expertly by Assistant Director Amber Sinclair-Case (musical theatre graduate, director, writer and PhD researcher) and Stage Manager Chloe Wilson (ASM for The Prodigal Son/Passion, Poison and Petrifaction with Pegasus Opera Company, Stage Manager for Death and Dancing at Kings Head Theatre).

Each night, a specially curated operatic song cycle will offer a meditation on where do we go and who do we become when we lose our anchor? You’ve never seen Opera quite like this before...
