Fundraising and Audience Insight

For a small number of individuals, we may carry out additional research to better understand engagement with King’s Head Theatre and potential interest in supporting us further.

Before making contact, we may review information such as booking history, known connections to the organisation, and publicly available data relating to areas such as career, business interests, charitable giving, and general interests. In some cases, this may include information about residential location, publicly declared donations (including political donations where declared by the individual), and other relevant public records.

This process helps us understand the background and interests of potential supporters so that any fundraising approaches are appropriate and informed. We may also use publicly available images to help identify attendees at special events.

We only use information that is publicly available or obtained through appropriate and lawful means. This does not include information about children unless it has been provided directly or made public by the individual concerned.

To support this work, we may use a range of sources, including publicly accessible records (such as Companies House), media and archive websites, and other official or reputable information providers.

How We Handle Your Information and Other Organisations

King’s Head Theatre will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. Where we work with like-minded arts organisations, we will only share your details if you have given your explicit consent—for example, when attending a co-produced or visiting show.

We work with trusted service providers who may need access to your data in order to carry out services on our behalf, such as payment processing or email delivery. We ensure that all such providers are contractually bound to meet our data protection standards and only use your information for the specific services they provide to us.

We may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • With service providers acting on our behalf, including payment processors, mailing houses, marketing agencies, database providers, website hosts, and email delivery services.
  • With named third-party organisations where you have opted in—for example, by ticking a box when purchasing tickets. In these cases, your data will only be shared with the specific organisation you selected.
  • With third parties administering competitions or similar activities, where you have chosen to participate and opted in to contact.
  • With data and advertising partners (such as social media or search platforms) to help us deliver relevant advertising. Any data shared for this purpose is pseudonymised so that you are not directly identified.
  • Where required by law, regulation, or legal process, including requests from law enforcement or under charity law obligations (such as “know your donor” requirements).
  • Please note that our website may contain links to external sites. King’s Head Theatre is not responsible for the privacy practices of these websites, and we recommend reviewing their policies before providing any personal information.

While we take appropriate measures to protect your data, no transmission over the internet is completely secure. Any information you share with us is therefore at your own risk.
