Oh Yes I Am!

Retired Panto Dame Hector Hanley fights to remain outrageously himself!

Hector: My next part will be better!
Director: Yes... You’re going to be a dead peasant, hog-tied.
Hector. Oh.
Director: Then set on fire
.

Hector Hanley wanted to be a world-famous actor. He didn’t want to be a panto dame. He didn’t want to fall in love with his irritatingly successful rival, Dicky. And he certainly didn’t want to finish up in an actors' retirement home...

Still fighting to be “great”, how can Hector evade the indignity of a looming dementia test?

Perhaps by steering carer Dan and cousin Matilda on wild goose chases through his tumultuous lifelong quest to be a celebrated star. He’s helped by his late lamented lover Dicky, who romps through his memories and starts to seem real once more.

James Cleeve and Mike Stocks’ unforgettable panto dame Hector Hanley O.B.E. made his debut in the winning song of Iris Theatre’s Xmas Factor competition. Now this irrepressible character has a full musical to subvert. Funny and poignant in equal measure, Hector fights to the end to remain outrageously himself.
