David Cumming Announces 'Queer Futures' Season

Guest Artistic Director David Cumming (Operation Mincemeat, West End) announces his new season as the final chaper of The Takeover.

"Queer Futures: A Festival of The Now Which Is Yet To Come"

“I am beyond excited and honoured to be presenting Queer Futures at King’s Head Theatre. With a focus firmly on fun, my season is an eclectic comedy-heavy showcase of contemporary queer talent that will have you laughing out loud whilst also exploring who we are, where we’ve come from and where we might be going.

From a messy, grief-stricken musical road-trip to a smarmy estate agent battling demonic cults, a noir murder mystery to an AI-led workshop, a whole host of queer stand-ups and brand new work from established writers, Queer Futures holds something for everyone.

I am also especially thrilled to be showcasing the premiere of Dogmouth Theatre’s new show 1000 Ways - a tender, time-hopping Sapphic fantasia from this talented, fearless and playful young company. Truly not one to miss!”

Transfering from Vault Festival comes a sticky, spooky horror comedy about gender reveal parties, demons from hell, and above all, a Gay Witch Sex Cult…. Kaelan will be lucky to escape with his life.

A stand-up comedy show about relationships, BDSM and facts.

This critically acclaimed show will have you laughing, learning and loving. Born out of a series of educational panels put together by the Singaporean government, this show is 100% government approved.

One part sermon, one part purge, three-parts party.

This travelling musical cult collective hosted by the RaveRend is on a mission: to get you happy, at any cost. This is a place to celebrate and elevate, to lay your shit out and wash it away. Made up of the alumni of the BAFTA-awarding winning Television Workshop, Sheep Soup are back…

Ell and Mary have been dead for three years, but they’ve come back to life (and the stage) with one question on their minds: how do you know when it’s the end?

Returning after a sell out show at KHT earlier this year, comes the freshest zombie heartbreak show you've ever seen. From the creators of the smash-hit shows HOTTER and FITTER (Soho Theatre).

Headlining the season comes 1000 Ways The World Will End (& How it Starts Again), from Dogmouth Theatre.

Three lifetimes. Three apocalypse. Three chances to start over. Two star-crossed lovers are caught in an endless cycle of death and rebirth, or are they? This time-spanning psychedelic rom-com about mushrooms and the death defying nature of Queer love is not one to miss.

Join Pasta Comedian Jen Ives for an hour of pasta comedy (about pasta). Trigger warnings include pasta and more pasta.

Ever thought of stealing someone’s ashes? Neither had Millie. Now she’s barrelling down the M6 in a Fiat with three accomplices, forty-five packets of crisps and a large urn.

A queer rom-com road-trip musical from Goya Theatre. Don't miss this ride.

Forty-six years ago, in 1977, Donna Summer recorded the queer anthem “I Feel Love”. But what will life be like for queer people in 2069, Forty-six years from now?

Armed with Summer’s vintage vinyl, playwright and performer Alexis Gregory (Riot Act, Sex/Crime) decides to find out.

Mark attempts to answer the big, bold question 'Do I like being gay or should I just get straight conversion therapy?’ Armed with comedic know-how and a sizable media following, Mark delves into this heady subject.

'Catch him now before he shoots off into the comedy stratosphere' Broadway Baby

An hour of stand-up and original comedy songs all about Tim Murray’s favourite pop culture, where he will have you howling at the moon. A tribute to queer people and how we discover our powers once we find our coven.
